Garrett produce (new) V.W 1.5D Turbochargers • Honeywell turbochargers designed and developed in India enable a perfect balance between fuel efficiency and performance NEW DELHI, April 2, 2015 — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Transportation Systems is providing its industry leading variable-geometry, diesel turbocharger technology to Volkswagen for its new 1.5L TDI diesel engine designed and developed to meet the unique needs of the local automotive market in the newest versions of Volkswagen and ŠKODA. Volkswagen selected Honeywell for its more than 20 years of experience developing its variable nozzle technology (VNT) benefitting diesel engines with improved responsiveness, performance and fuel economy. Honeywell’s global technology platform and its established design, application, engineering and manufacturing operations in India enabled collaboration between personnel in Europe and India. The result was a turbo application benefitting the new 1.5L TDI diesel engine from Volkswagen on the Polo, the Vento, and the Rapid. “With Honeywell, we have a trusted partner for high performance and extremely reliable turbochargers for our 1.5L TDI diesel engines. The 1.5L TDI diesel engine replaced a smaller 1.2L TDI diesel engine as well as a larger 1.6L TDI diesel engine in the Volkswagen Polo, Vento and the ŠKODA Rapid. Configurations with this engine across all three models went on sale in later half of 2014. Downsized diesel turbocharged vehicles deliver up to 40 percent better fuel-economy and emissions than the larger naturally-aspirated engines with similar power outputs which they replace. They also have better torque and are often more fun to drive than non-turbocharged vehicles.
